Frequently Asked Questions

A HEX color code is a 6-digit hexadecimal number used to represent colors in web design and digital graphics. It starts with a hash symbol (#) followed by six characters using numbers 0-9 and letters A-F. For example, #FF0000 represents pure red, #00FF00 is green, and #0000FF is blue. Each pair of digits represents the intensity of red, green, and blue (RGB) respectively, with values ranging from 00 (0) to FF (255).
To convert RGB to HEX manually, convert each RGB value (0-255) to its two-digit hexadecimal equivalent. For example, RGB(255, 87, 51) becomes #FF5733 because 255 = FF, 87 = 57, and 51 = 33. Our color picker does this automatically - simply enter your RGB values in the input field or use the visual picker, and all HEX conversions appear instantly.
WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines) defines minimum contrast ratios between text and background colors to ensure readability for people with visual impairments. AA level requires a 4.5:1 ratio for normal text and 3:1 for large text. AAA level (enhanced) requires 7:1 for normal text and 4.5:1 for large text. Using our contrast checker helps ensure your designs are accessible to everyone and comply with legal accessibility requirements.
Complementary colors are pairs of colors positioned directly opposite each other on the color wheel, 180 degrees apart. When placed together, they create maximum contrast and visual vibration. Common complementary pairs include red and cyan, blue and orange, yellow and purple, and green and magenta. Our palette generator can automatically find the complementary color for any color you select.
Click the "Image" tab in our color picker, then drag and drop any image or click to browse your files. The tool automatically extracts the dominant colors from your image and displays them as a palette. You can also click anywhere on the uploaded image to pick a specific pixel color using the built-in eyedropper. Supported formats include JPG, PNG, GIF, and WebP.
RGB (Red, Green, Blue) is an additive color model used for screens and digital displays. HSL (Hue, Saturation, Lightness) is a more intuitive representation that describes colors the way humans perceive them. CMYK (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Key/Black) is a subtractive model used for print. Use RGB/HSL for web and digital design, and CMYK when preparing files for professional printing.
